4.     CONDITIONS FOR THE USE OF THE WORD "NATIONAL" IN THE NAME  OF A  BREED CLUB'S CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

4.1

The use of the word “National” in the name of a Breed Club’s Championship Show is not permitted without the prior approval of the A.N.K.C.

4.2

 

4.2.1

Applications for the use of the word “National” will not be considered by the ANKC until twelve (12) months after the affiliation of the National Breed Council has been approved by the ANKC. (10/02)

4.2.2

Application for use of the word “National” must be lodged through the A.N.K.C. Member Body in the State or Territory in which the fixture is proposed to be conducted, by the Club applying to conduct the fixture. 

4.2.3

If a Breed Club applies for a National Show, then the National Show must actually replace one of the State Breed Club’s normal shows and is not to be considered to be in addition to their normally scheduled shows. (10/97)

4.2.4

When allocating National Show dates, the National Breed Council shall take into consideration the permanent dates allocated by the various State Member Bodies for the conduct of Specialty Shows. (10/97)

4.2.5

Where a National Show is held, no Challenge Certificates shall be awarded for the breed/s involved in the National Show, within a radius of 450km from the show on that day/s. (5/00)

4.2.6

A National Show shall not be held on the same date as a Royal Show where it would preclude exhibitors from participating in either event. (10/98)

4.2.7

Where the A.N.K.C. grants a National Show date during a Royal Show, then the Member Body in the State/Territory of the Royal Show shall notify the Royal of the days in which the particular breed cannot be exhibited at their Royal Show. (5/99)

4.3

 

4.3.1

An application for approval by the A.N.K.C. to use the word "National" in the name of a Breed Club's fixture shall be submitted in the following manner:

  1. The Original application from the affiliated Breed Club requesting permission to use the word “National” in the name of their Club’s fixture is to be lodged with the ANKC Member Body to which the Club is affiliated, at least eighteen (18) months prior to the proposed date/s for the conduct of the fixture.

  2. This application is to include a copy of the written endorsement from the National Breed Council to the Affiliated Member Club endorsing the conduct of a National Show. The endorsement must include confirmation of the year the National Show is to be conducted.

  3. The A.N.K.C Member Body shall then endorse and confirm the actual date/s and submit its written endorsement, together with copies of the correspondence referred to in (a) and (b) above, including the venue/location of the National Show, to the ANKC Administrator. (5/03)

    The ANKC Member Body is to process the application in sufficient time to ensure that the application is processed by the National Breed Council Liaison Working Party and placed before the National Breed Council Liaison Committee Meeting at least twelve [12] months prior to the scheduled date of the National Event. (5/03)

  4. The ANKC Administrator shall then refer the application to the National Breed Councils Liaison Working Party for a recommendation to the National Breed Councils Liaison Committee who will approve the application, or otherwise. (5/99) 

4.3.2

If for any reason the National Breed Council decides not to endorse the application, the National Breed Council shall submit their reasons for rejection, in writing, promptly to the National Breed Councils Liaison Committee who will consider the reasons and prepare a recommendation for consideration by the A.N.K.C.

4.3.3

Approval to conduct a “National Breed Championship Show” shall not be granted, except in extraordinary circumstances, to the same breed in any State or Territory in succession.

4.4

If approved, the Affiliate conducting the fixture shall:

4.4.1

Obtain approval of their National Show Schedule form their ANKC Member Body at least eight (8) months prior to the National Show. (5/01)

4.4.2

Notwithstanding Regulation 4.4.1, obtain approval of their National Show Schedule from their ANKC member Body prior to any advertising of the Schedule. (5/01)

4.4.3

Advertise the fixture in the official publication of each A.N.K.C. Member Body. Member Bodies shall charge a maximum rate of $50.00 for this advertisement, the size of which shall be 9cm wide x 8cm deep. (5/99)

4.4.4

Submit to the National Breed Councils Liaison Working Party evidence of the advertisement published in the publications at least six months prior to the conduct of the fixture. (5/99)

4.4.5

It is sufficient in the advertisement to state –

the name of the fixture

the date, and the address of the venue at which the fixture is to be held 

the name of the Judge

the name, address and phone number of the Secretary of the Club conducting the fixture, or the address where schedules can be obtained.

the date entries close.

4.5

The approval to use the word “National” in the name of a Breed Club’s Championship Show will, except in extraordinary circumstances, be grated only to those breeds who are represented by a National Breed Council.
